Suzano reinforces its commitment to China at CIIE 2023

Suzano, the world’s leading market pulp producer, has appeared at the China International Import Expo 2023, reinforcing its commitment to the Chinese market. This is the third time that Suzano has participated in CIIE.

Under the theme of “Join the low-carbon action, speed up China’s bio-based future”, Suzano exhibits its bio-based materials that have been introduced to the Chinese market, its co-creation projects on bio-based solutions with local partners and its dedication to supporting the country in its low-carbon journey.

In particular, Suzano strengthened its local partnerships and collaborations at the opening ceremony for its booth on November 6.

The company signed an MOU (memorandum of understanding) with Hainan International Carbon Emissions Exchange on the future trading of Suzano’s carbon credits, which are generated from its forest base in Brazil. The MOU paves the way for close collaboration on carbon projects, carbon credit standards integration and the development of common actions in a regulated carbon market.

Suzano also signed a strategic financial agreement with the Bank of China, demonstrating the deep partnership between the two parties.

In conjunction with its partners Vinda and COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers, Suzano revealed a special edition of tissue boxes featuring sustainability-themed drawings by school children in China. The debut of the special boxes marks the conclusion of a drawing competition, which was launched in May this year. The drawing competition is the first initiative of an extracurricular educational program named “Environment-friendly, Child-friendly” sponsored by Suzano and its two Chinese partners, with the support of relevant government bodies in China. Selected paintings are displayed in Suzano’s booth, and more can also be viewed online.

Commenting on Suzano’s engagement at the CIIE, Pablo Machado, President of Asia (Business Management) at Suzano said:
“It’s our honor to attend the CIIE for the third time and demonstrate the fruitful achievements of Suzano in China in 2023, especially around innovation and sustainability. We have established the Suzano China Innovability Hub, launched a social program with our local partners and another open innovation program to identify and foster local startups in developing bio-based solutions, to name just a few. Looking ahead, we’ll continue fostering collaboration with local stakeholders so as to better support China’s transition to a low-carbon economy.”

This year, Suzano can be found at booth C4-04 in Hall 3 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).
