Sustainability

We operate in more than 200 operations across Brazil, where 3.3 million people live in poverty. We believe it is our responsibility to help create a fairer, more equal world with opportunities for all people.

We know that we will not be able to transform this reality alone, which is why we work in partnership with companies, civil society organizations, associations and cooperatives, public authorities and other partners. We are also guided by our Commitments to Renewing Life, a set of long-term goals focusing on reducing poverty and improving education. Learn more on the Commitments page.

Our Strategy

To drive social development, we focus on three areas of impact:

  • Relationship with communities

Maintaining transparent and respectful relationships with all stakeholders in the locations where we operate is paramount. Therefore, we follow an organized process of continuous and effective dialogue, focusing on creating value for all parties involved while respecting local culture and knowledge, such as that of indigenous peoples and traditional communities.

  • Support to education

  • Poverty reduction

Our commitment to reducing poverty involves investing in scalable solutions; building partnerships, territorial arrangements and coalitions through networks of social actors from different sectors; and seeking opportunities for our business to contribute to poverty reduction through our value chain. Our projects are organized into six focus areas: Sustainable Harvesting; Inclusive Recycling; Entrepreneurship; Local Supply Networks; Access to Employment; and the Suzano Value Chain.
